Grace Cancer Run

Head and neck (mouth, larynx, throat or nose) cancers account for a large portion of the total number of cancer cases reported in India, and nearly half of the patients with such type of cancers die within a year of diagnosis. Over 1.7 lakh cancer cases are reported every year of which 76% are males; many patients come for treatment only after cancer has reached advanced stage.

Nearly 70% of head and neck cancers are related to consumption of  tobacco, areca nut and alcohol. Unfortunately, these causative agents are freely available either due to weak policy or implementation, or absence of it.

Recently TV9 supported Race For Grace, a cancer awareness run and urged people to stay away from tobacco. The run is a chance to challenge oneself, set new limits and reduce cancer risk by being physically active. Early detection is the key to conquering cancer and anyone can make meaningful and significant changes in lifestyle to  prevent occurrence of cancer.

TV9 telecast promos on social media platforms, aired scrolls and covered the event LIVE to spread awareness regarding the importance of early detection as it goes a long way in preventing cancer complications.

The race to save lives run was organised by Grace Cancer Foundation. People from all walks of life joined the run in the fight against cancer and ran alongside those who are impacted by cancer. Hyderabad CP Anjani Kumar flagged off the run where nearly seven thousand young men and women participated.
