One of the recent campaigns that TV9 has taken up is 'Ban Plastic'. In this regard TV9 did a number of public service messages and spread the harmful effects of using plastic. The public service messages were made with the association of school children talking directly to the viewer about the harmful effects of plastic. A few general public service messages were made which described in detail the various disadvantages of using plastic and what it would do to planet earth. In the past also TV9 has taken up various campaigns against polythene covers and it is in the year 2013 the then government of united Andhra Pradesh had banned usage of plastic in the city of Hyderabad.
In Hyderabad today around 20 lakh families use 3 to 5 polythene covers a day that comes to a whopping one crore covers a day. Additional usage of straws, tea cups and water bottles take thousands of years to decompose. When plastic is burnt cancer causing poisonous gases like dioxins, carbon monoxide and benzene are released into the air that we breathe.
With a strong campaign against plastic, TV9 hopes that there will be a ban on its usage in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
